Hi! First post here! I am getting my bangs cut soon, but also want a hair cut. Nothing too drastic since I'm trying to grow it out, but I haven't cut it since I had it really short so I am lacking layers etc. I've always kept my hair short (see picture) until recently and I just need a cut/ layers while it is growing out. Suggestions very much appreciated since my hair is kind of a shapeless mess right now! Thanks in advance! :)

Light Orange Hair to Blonde. Help, please. ^.^ [Nov. 12th, 2009|10:00 pm]

[sillychibi]
Hello, Everyone! I'm planning on bleaching my hair from an orange-brown to Blonde. I was thinking I would just use RAW White Out, since I've used it twice already, and it's always worked out really well. Only thing I was wondering - do I need to strip the orange out of my hair first, or can I just put the bleach then toner in?

This is what it looks like right now:

That is a bit old, so it's lighter now, but not by much.

How I got that was I had Brown in my hair, and I stripped that until my hair was yellow-orange. Then, I put the orange-brown color in. It was FAR more orange when I first did it, it just faded a lot since then.

Alright, SO! Please tell me what I should do. Also, please don't tell me not to Bleach my hair >.< I know it's not good for your hair. I don't mind, I just want to know if I should strip it or if just bleaching will work fine.

Thanks! :3

I have a 9-5 office job, so my hair needs to stay relatively "normal". I've thought of doing a more asymmetrical cut and going lighter, so any advice is useful advice! I've done pretty much all lengths (except for shaved) and all natural colors, so I'm not afraid of change. :)

Question about black hair types? [Nov. 12th, 2009|08:21 pm]

[adhesive_dream]
I have angry, mulatto hair and my friend was planning to relax it with the same brand I used like 5 years ago as a teen/tween. Back then, I didn't really care if my hair was healthy or not, but now I'm getting all freaked out thinking it'll be super damaged and I'll have to cut it all off. I'm mostly straightening it because I recently cut my bangs and flat-ironing is damaging, but mostly because I'm lazy (and because if they get wet I have a crazy fuzzy halo). My hair's not super healthy, but it's not as bad as it once was thanks to loving it (and a haircut). What I want to know is:

=> Should I condition it tonight/tomorrow morning so I can straighten it in the evening?
=> I washed it on Wednesday, around 2am. Should I wash it again? I have just a little bit of hair oil. The ends are dry, but not really damaged.
=> Can I use relaxer over a leave-in or White Rain? >_>
=> How soon after relaxing can/should I dye it?

Thanks!

haircut tomorrow. [Nov. 12th, 2009|05:11 pm]

After lurking through the posts, I decided maybe I should just ask for some help.

I am getting my haircut tomorrow morning and am looking for a better picture to show her. I'm not exactly how short will look good on me, but I want to chop it to at least chin length.

Not a very good pic, but this is the length of my hair now...

and this is the best picture I found so far.

Maybe not the same bangs, but similar length. Would this look ok? Something shorter?

So I'm new, I have a fairly lengthy timeline and also a haircut apointment in 2 days. Which is scary because I've been cutting my own hair for the past 2 years. But let's go bbbbback in time and I'll show you where I've been and where I am now...

big pics and big hair ahead! )

I posted here yesterday about what I want to do with my hair, and I decided to tell you my story about the cause I'm fundraising for.

On June 25th 2010, the day before my high school graduation ceremony, I am shaving my head as part of a volunteer for the St. Baldrick's foundation!
Each year, 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada. Research saves lives. The St. Baldrick's Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government, more than $12 million in 2009 alone, and to date, over 106,000 volunteers have shaved their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer at more than 2,400 emotional events in 50 states and 24 countries.

After doing some research through the site, I've decided to donate to more than one child depending on how much I raise.
I'm extremely excited for this, as I've always wanted to shave my head, and now I get to do it for a good cause!

If you'd like to be so kind as to make a sponsor donation, find out more about St. Baldrick's, or even become a shavee, click the link below :]

LiveJournal Major Notes: Notes, Tweaks, Bug Kills, LJ_Cares! [Nov. 12th, 2009|01:53 pm]

Notes augmented

We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!

Product tweaks and bug kill

  1. In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
  2. If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
  3. The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
  4. If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
  5. If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
  6. Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)

New FCK fixes rich text editor!

  1. We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
  2. When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
  3. RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
  4. An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
  5. The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers

LiveJournal Cares

We’re pleased to introduce you to [info]lj_cares, a new LiveJournal community dedicated to raising awareness and funds for U.S. charitable organizations that improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Each month, we’ll spotlight a nonprofit that is making a significant global impact through medical research, public outreach, and/or humanitarian social programs. Charities will be selected in accordance with the U.S. calendar of national health observances based on a high rating (of over 60%) on Charity Navigator and global scope of impact.

In this, our inaugural month of November, we will celebrate national adoption month by offering a charitable virtual gift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that saves the lives of orphans with life-threatening diseases and places them in loving homes around the world. LiveJournal will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of charitable vgifts (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit [info]lj_cares and read about how they helped save Baby Kang and the Rainbow Twins from fatal illnesses, who are now thriving in nurturing families. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries gifts in the Virtual Gift shop.

body wave vs. grease [Nov. 12th, 2009|11:11 am]

madradhair

[little_claws]
I am considering getting a body wave to battle the oilyness of my hair. I love really wavy hair and while my hair is slightly wavy it is also super oily by the end of the day.

I had been dying my hair for the past 5 years & now that my natural hair has all grown out - I am having an oil problem.

I just do not want to end up with fried hair again. Is there a chance that I can get a body wave every few months & it not damage my hair too much?

Lastly, anyone that has gotten a body wave, share photos and stories about your experience?

TY!!
